How to block a channel on YouTube

Updated · tested in Chrome

Short answer

On a video’s ⋮ menu, “Don’t recommend channel” removes a channel from your home feed, but it still shows in search. ytbud’s “Block channels and keywords” hides matching videos everywhere: home, search, the watch sidebar and Shorts shelves.

YouTube’s option

  1. On the home page, click ⋮ next to a video.
  2. Choose Don’t recommend channel.

It works for recommendations only, and needs you signed in.

With ytbud, step by step

  1. Add ytbud to Chrome and turn on Block channels and keywords in Tools → Focus.
  2. Add channel names or @handles, and keywords, in the list under the switch.
  3. Matching videos disappear across YouTube. Matching is case-insensitive.

Questions

Is my block list private?

It’s stored in Chrome’s synced settings, not on any ytbud server.
